DAY II NIGHT

Kiki and I wanted to take advantage of the arbors set on the street dividers, but did not want the intrusion of all the surrounding elements; cars passing by, buildings, etc., so here's how we achieved night time pictures, taken an hour before sunset.
A single shoot through umbrella was set up, with a Vivitar 285HV speedlight, at 1/16 power, f.11, 400 ISO, positioned at about 45 degrees from the subject (on the sketch I drew the umbrella on the opposite side of where it was positioned-- my bad), and I stood directly in front of the subject. The camera had a speed light on it, but faced straight up towards the sky, as I used it only to fire the Vivitar with a sensor.

Hopefully this will help somebody do something new and creative. Come back and post a comment and let me know how it came out.

GRAFFITI OVER TREE GRAIN

Another montage; I went for a more blended effect vs the straight superimposed look, as it was done on the Redemption photo.

WEST CLIFF- SANTA CRUZ, CA

Go and take a beautiful sunset walk along Santa Cruz's "West Cliff" if your ever in the area-- it is wonderful!

REDEMPTION

This photo was created in line with John 3:16, a very popular verse in the Christian Holy Bible.

THIS POSTING IS NOT BY ANY MEANS TO TAKE ON ANY FORM OF PREACHING, BUT RATHER SHARE A THOUGHT.

I would love to do a photo shoot inside of this new museum. The design by Zaha Hadid is fresh, in the B-Boy sense!

LEAF

This shot was very simple to make. A black paper back ground with black thread tied at the end of the leaf's stem, as I pulled and turned it a bit, the camera was in operation with a 30 second shutter. Imported it to Photo Shop, minor adjustments made with levels and curves plus two layers: an overlay layer-- tweek the opacity a bit, a channel mixer layer at 80 % red 10% green 10% blue hit monochrome, and there it is. A nice solid black backing and a dramatic leaf. Don't forget to apply the sharpen filter.

LAKE MERRIT

Five years ago with the sun just rising, I took this shot, and it is one of my favorites.
